After one month flying in Kamshet and getting my licenses, arriving in Hampi is incredible and it’s definitely better than my expectations. A mix of wild desert, oasis, rice fields, rocks, monkeys and temples. It’s a shanti place…

Time goes very slowly, the days are long and hot, very hot. The only possibilities to climb are at dawn and late afternoon. That’s it!

Time for some rock boulder adoration then …

Bike Trip Begins !!!

We are off !!! Very much like our friend Che … we left our recent home in Kamshet, with our “Ninja” fully packed, but with not much of a departure party, rather our friend nepali Rupeshka who gave a reluctant hug and slightly waved good bye. It felt good to leave our recent home tent. With Ninja heavier than ever and after almost crashing in the first turn, we got in the main road and headed to Pune. The first stretch was small, only 40 km of Indian express way. The road was good but chaotic as always. The rules exist but are never followed and everything that exists circulates in the roads of India.

Pune is supposed to be a city with a balanced blend of old and new India, with big communities of university students and locals. It’s also the home of the famous Osho meditation centre and of one famous Zoo and Snake park with one of the most reputable herpetologist and snake handler of India.

Flying High

My dream is to fly,

over the rainbow,

so high … la la la!

That’s the tune that we had all the time on the way back from the paragliding sites, on the big jeep driven by Tom, a Australian friend, paragliding instructor.

What a sensation! I am finally flying autonomously with an “aircraft” that fits in a big size rucksack. The first solo flight was a dream… now I’m ridge soaring for an hour and a half at a height of 1000 meters, looking nervously to the ground and to the wing. Still wondering how can that inflatable wing be stable and carry me around in the sky with almost full control.

Around, just another pilots or some random bird showing is latest acrobatic moves and how easy it is to fly.

I am happy. I keep saying to myself …this is amazing, I am flying on my own, I am alone with nature… I am a new pilot... I am Happy !!! :)

A new world opened ! Now, my nomadic life is going to be also looking for hotspots for these new human birds of prey.

“Ninja" is alive again or ... plans for the near future

We bought a motorbike, a Royal Enfield 350 from 1998, a model from the times of the II World War. Her name… Ninja. In memory of my belated best friend.

The plan is to go around India with no itinerary and no schedule other than that we need to exit the country in May, or until our money reserves extinguish.
Some ideas seem to indicate some paragliding in the horizon, climbing, yoga practice, maybe meditation retreats, snake handling training and also along the way some teaching of first aid and environment education to communities.

Surely it reminds me of Che motorbike’s trip around South America, but I just hope it will not involve any cow crashes, since we are in the country of this free and sacred ruminant.

The options are opened and the road is ours :).

Back to India

Here I am, back in this huge, incredible and diverse country. There is no plan, but the general idea is to stay some time in Kolkata, doing some volunteering, helping those in need, using my medical care and first aid knowledge.

Then after, maybe go somewhere around the west to learn paragliding and enjoy the skies, as this has been my dream for a long time. Another possibility will be to get hands on an old motorbike and go on a tour for as long as money and visa lasts :)

Pit stop in Kuala Lumpur

Cities bahhhh … I hate cities.
But actually, KL this year was a nice experience… crashing at our new friends Yan and Lili House, a nice apartment with a beautiful view over the city, with a lot of skyscrapers.

It was time for a pit stop and to enjoy the commodities of the urban jungle. From IT centres to Chinese restaurants, cinema to capoeira with my friend Juls …. it was ok to have a break, do some internet work and arrange a visa for India.

In the meanwhile, our friends took us to the new biggest indoor climbing wall in Asia. After so long without climbing, it was good to energize my body again with some monkey work… but I miss the natural rock!!!

Let's see if India can help me with that :)

Anyway, after a long time wait and a sort of a bribe … I got a visa … India here I go again.

Bali … again in the Island of the Gods

An anticipated return to magic Bali and here I am back to a place where spirituality and seekers radiate in every corner of the town of Ubud.
It’s time to relax, enjoy life, the luxury and the excesses of a rich island, invaded by privileged spiritual seekers, surfers, party tourists and everyone else.

During this short stay I had time to do some yoga, different kinds, with many good teachers. I also managed to get a class in the studio and teach self defense for women, which went really well.

Ubud was the stage for many transcendental and philosophical conversations, many dinner debates and friend chats.

Diving was extremely good, independently taking some yogi friends and new traveler friends to explore the wonders of the underwater world.
Soon it will be time to leave back to India.

Hello my friends !!!

I'm still looking for a job around, so in the meanwhile if you fancy joining me for some diving in Bali, you're welcome.

The dives are amazing, many are acessible from shore, with lots of marine life (Bali is located in the south of the so called Coral Triangle, one of the most biodiverse marine areas in the world), a beautiful wreck dive from the second World War the USAT Liberty , and much much more.

Anything can be done around here, from the normal fun diving (this is not to be only for business, if you just want to come along and dive with me, perfect !!! If you need a guide then we can sort it out) or to the more professional Open Water courses, Advanced, Rescue, Specialities (Nitrox, Wreck, etc). Whatever you want :)

If interested, just drop me a line ... the prices can be in a budget and I can help you out with logistics, accomodation, food, transportation, even air flights. Believe me, with the appropriate gymnastics it can be quite cheap.

After a deserved retreat around India and Nepal with a lot of personal “enlightenments” while visiting isolated mountain communities in the Nepalese Himalaya, spiritual or religious places such as Varanasi and Lumbini, or the agitated streets of Kolkata, it was time to head back to work in Thailand. It is a country that I am familiar with, but this time I had a new totally challenge… work in a remote island away from the tourist crowds, living in a tent and managing a small dive operation.

The island is called Lao Liang and it’s a very small island with no cars, no roads, no resorts, no anything, just a 250 m beach surrounded by huge limestone cliffs and sea. There are nylon tents with a high level of comfort, a restaurant area, a toilet area, a small bar, a small “dive centre”, a rock climbing “centre” and that’s pretty much it.

It was 3 months of new experiences, trying to rise and develop a non-existent dive operation from a falling bamboo hut, while guiding some climbing customers and helping in the general operations of the island. At the same time

There was time to rock climb a bit (in some of the best rock ever seen), deep water soloing, kayaking, yoga, diving and meet some very interesting people.

It was definitely a new, interesting and challenging experience which unfortunately didn’t finish the best way, since I had to evacuate the island with a huge infection on my left knee, due to a recurrent staph infection from Nepal. Also, my pro-active, rebellious and environmentalist attitude wasn’t giving the best results with the established, conventional, unorganized and cultural attitudes on the island.

Good experience, but I was glad to leave … when things are not willing to improve, sometimes the only resort possible is to let them go.

Trekking in Nepal

Just arrived from a 2 week trek in Langtang Valley and Gosaikunde, around some of the highest mountains of the planet. A lot of stories to tell if I have the time :)

In the end I got a very common infection for the visitors in these microbiological rich countries :) ... now I have an interesting boil (called a staphyloccocus infection) to treat hopefully in the next few days. After walking and climbing I don't know how many kilometers, now I can't almost walk to the toilet.

Soon I'll post some photos and writings.

Krazy Kathmandu... is always running of electricity... :)

Nepal ... at the roof of the World

After an amazing bus travel around hills and mountains with lots of local people and a couple of chickens. Here I am in the foothills of the Himalayas. The place of choice for now is Pokhara, a touristic village that is the start of the trekking circuit of the Annapurnas. Nevertheless it's a beautiful place with a valley and lakes, surrounded by mountains with around 7000 mts high, including the Annapurna I (goddess of fertility) with 8091 mts.

Fuck China Olympic Games... Free Tibet

Yesterday, 07.08.2008, the Olympic Games started in China... yesterday Tibetans and supporters lighten up candles in pacific protest all around the world.

So we did, we went and manifest ourselves in Mcleod Ganj with many other Tibetans and supporters.
Everything went smooth with a couple of speeches about the current situation and the Olympics from Tibetan representatives perspective, the national anthem (which was quite powerful) and a film about the march to Tibet realized early this year.
As more knowledge I get from the Tibetan issue, and believe me, I can be quite impartial in this political issues with my biologist view, more I see the injustice and the repression of a people that deserves much more and can actually be an example for the humankind.

At most, the Tibetan issue is a terrorism act against the evolution of human civilization based on non-violence behaviour.
Anyway… for sure I will not watch or participate in any event related with the Olympic Games.

Crows, Slugs and a River of Trash

Plastic bottles, metal cans, plastic bags, boxes, rests of food, wasted clothes… anything goes directly to the ground or to the river, as if it would be a natural process of recycling (maybe related with some analogy with Buddhism which I’m still trying to understand). But guess what, the things don’t go anywhere. At most they flow a couple of meters down the river to gather maybe for eternity (depending on degradability times) in some nice small pond. There they all show their beautiful colours for a while, as if we would be talking about Tibetan preying flags. The problem is that the colours don’t last so long, and the impacts on the river streams, soils, and anywhere else are immense, from visual to permanent contamination of waters, from smelly to poisoning to the native animals.

There’s not such a thing as garbage disposal facilities, collecting or waste treatment… or anything at all regarding waste care. I think they burn or bury some stuff sometimes.

Considering life priorities, well-being, and surviving instincts, of course I’m not naïf to the point that I would thing that people that are so worried about surviving every single day, would be worried about environmental issues… but at the same time, aren’t those behaviours becoming real life-threatening and worth about?

Contaminated water = diarrhoea, cholera, giardia, parasites
Contaminated soil = plant diseases, non-fertile soils, human contact diseases
Plastic waste = pets, cows, wild life eats them and get serious health problems or death

Etc, etc, etc, …

I guess I feel disappointed from the fact that I see Buddhism (and I’m not a follower) as something related with every single day life of Nature as a whole and I would expect that people that preach all along this religion would see and be concerned about this SHIT.
Maybe it’s just a different cultural issue… which can also be used as an excuse for many problems that occur in our days all around the globe, and affects every single living being. :)

Anyway, there is a small environmental centre which I think has some action around here… small but maybe a good way to start!

For sure this region, along with many others in India require an environmental action… otherwise it will not last longer.

Teachings by the Dalai Lama

This last days the Dalai Lama has been giving some teachings to any interested person that is around McLeod Ganj (Dharamsala).
A lot of believers and curious are attending the teachings, from tibetean monks, hindus, tourists, etc.
Beeing an atheist, but also a curious about budhist philosophies it was interesting to be in the first day and listen to his teachings. Even though, listening to translations in a FM radio, with lots of delay and a bit repetitive, may be a bit too much for my impatient mind :)
Many of the teachings were about existence, consciousness, birth, life and death, and what budhism and some scriptures would have to say about it, relating also with some other main religions.
It was nice for the experience, but I guess a bit to heavy for most of the lay people that attended the lectures. So in the afternoon I decided to go experiment a bit of Yoga. Nice to keep the body also in place.

No photos of the Dalai Lama, of course, since the security was strong... maybe one of this days when we both go for a dinner together :) ... but there is a photo of a himalayan monkey :)

Arriving in India... New Delhi... again another cultural shock...

As most of you know I'm not a city guy... and this one is something ... mostly what I can tell for the short experience (or long in my case) is that at the eyes of western (developed!?!) countries it's dificult to imagine human beings living in this conditions.

If you're looking for adrenaline bursts, forget any radical adventure sports you may know... travelling in india is the one activity for you.
I guess it is very proper to believe in reencarnation around here... there's no other option for the low value for life that persists around (considering traffic, basic patterns of living conditions, etc). And yes, life is always on a slackline here.

After running away from the city, I finnaly make it to the place where I'm gonna stay for the next couple of months... Mcleod Ganj ... a beautiful village in the mountains of the Himalayas in the North of India.
This place is knowned for hosting a big community of tibetean refugees, including the headquarters of tibete and the house of the Dalai Lama.
Nice sceneries and atmosphere, surrounded by big mountains and a lot of cultural mix from tibeteans, hindus, nepalese, foreigners, etc.
A place for practices such as yoga, reiki, massages, buddhism, and many kinds of natural medicines and activities.

Anyway, it looks quite a pleasant place to be experiencing for the coming times.

Após 15 dias de loukura e muito trabalho numa ilha do outro lado do Mar de Andaman... a pedido de muitos lá resolvi voltar a postar neste blog...

Como alguns já sabem, um amigo meu, o André frito, num acesso de loukura induzida resolveu juntar-se nesta aventura ...

Passamos os ultimos tempos nessa ilha q se chama Koh Lanta. Muito fixe :)

Agora sou coordenador das inspecções de mergulho de um projecto de conservação dos recifes de corais.
Basicamente o q ando a fazer é o seguinte:

- Faço avaliações dos procedimentos de mergulho dos centros membros, para ver se são "environmentally friendly"
- Monitorizo o estado dos corais em alguns dos locais de mergulho mais requisitados
- Dou formação aos centros membros nesta técnica de monitorização que se chama ReefWatch
- Arranjo e supervisiono voluntários para este projecto

Resumindo... Mergulho e viajo à pala em sitios brutais :)

Agora curtam aí umas fotos das ultimas aventuras....

incluindo a minha primeira interação com o maior peixe do mundo... o tubarão baleia.... este tinha "só" 7 metros....

só posso dizer q foi uma experiência mágica... "somos mesmo pequeninos"

2 dias embarcado com 15 tailandeses

Depois de 2 dias a escalar e uma noite atribulada num barezinho reggae com uns amigos artistas de danças com fogo...

Estes ultimos dias embarquei 2 dias pra costa oeste de Phuket, numa missão científica do Centro de Biologia Marinha, para fazer monitorização do estado dos corais e fazer umas recolhas nuns recifes artificiais.

Ando a fazer um pouco de tudo.... saio daki com uma experiência alargada em várias áreas, mas sem tese nenhum, já tou a ver :)

Andei a ser puxado por um barco a cerca de 9 nós e a colher informações em apneia sobre o estado dos corais... vivo, morto, coral duro, mole, anemonas, esponjas, etc, etc

Esta experiência de embarcar com 15 tailandeses, em que só dois ou três é que conseguia decifrar o inglês, foi deveras interessante...

Desde comer comida mais picante que uma malagueta pura e feijões anões doces, a acordar a ouvir reggae tailandês e logo a seguir para despertar os sentidos um karaoke tailandês com a tripulação toda a cantar ... foi lindo.... gandas malukos :)

Ontem fui pra night mais uma vez.... é impossível resistir :)

Muito nice... Firedancers , travestis, prostitutas, bifes de toda a espécie e feitio, etc, etc.... isto é a mega variedade. Um ambiente totalmente psicadélico e alucinante. Nem imaginam .....

Hoje fui a mais uns mergulhinhos no recife artificial, para fazer uns censos visuais da ictiofauna (traduzindo... contar o número e tipo de peixarada que anda lá pelo recife). Este é um dos projectos que tou integrando com voluntário.

Foi bacano, nadei com um bixinho muito bonito e pasmacento.... a tartaruga marinha ....

De resto foi só trabalho e muita fotografia.... depois tive a fazer manutenção do equipamento de mergulho e a identificar as espécies com guias.... nestas águas tropicais a quantidade e diversidade de espécies é tão grande que nem imaginam a trabalheira que dá.

Ao fim da tarde fomos a um barezinho na praia chamado Sunflower beber um batido de manga... maravilha :)

Bem.... isto nos últimos dias tem sido uma coisa do outro mundo....

Nem consigo me exprimir...

O ambiente tá do melhor, já tenho a tese alinhavada, tenho conhecido malta muito fixe... inclusivé um grupo de espanhóis mergulhadores, uns australianos escaladores, etc, etc...

Ontem apanhamos uma "borraxa" com cerveja tailandesa (que supostamente não podiamos beber, porque era o dia de aniversário do rei da Tailândia).

E hoje fomos mergulhar em Koh Bida Nok e Hin Dot, dois sitios brutalissimos...

Vi dois tubarões leopardo, um tubarão de pontas negras, um peixe sapo (rarissimo), cardumes enormes de todo o tipo de peixe .... que loukura :)

Vim a Phuket conhecer o Centro de Biologia Marinha e em conversas com um professor daki que é responsável por inúmeros projectos de conservação de corais, surgiram algumas ideias.

O centro é muito giro, com um aquário, centro de recuperação de espécies ameaçadas, etc.... finalmente entrei em contacto com o meio académico.... conheci pessoal estudante, etc... já tava um bocado farto só do turismo, etc

Á partida agora já tenho uma tese para andar para a frente.... vou fazer qualquer coisa como avaliar o impacto do mergulho recreativo nos corais nas ilhas phiphi e phuket. Integrado num programa de conservação de voluntariado que pretende aumentar a consciência dos operadores turísticos que trabalham neste campo.

Assim vou ter que andar a mergulhar com os centros de mergulho como observador nas suas saidas e a recolher dados sobre os impactos e o recife.... que chatice :)

Por outro lado, vou continuar a ajudar como voluntário na monitorização dos recifes artificiais na ilha phiphi ley, porque considero que é um projecto de restauro muito importante na zona afectada pelo tsunami.

Também me contrataram :) pra ser guia e instrutor de escalada ... já tive lá a dar uns tirinhos nas vias fáceis... e até conheci uma malta e andei a fazer slackline.... olé

Aqui fui fazer um treking pela ilha até alguns sitios bacanos pra ver as vistas....atravessar a selva tropical.... era só bicharada... e acho que há uns lagartos grandinhos tipo 1 metro e cobras bem venenosas... mas não vi ainda :(

Mas nada definido para a minha tese ainda...
Fui mergulhar nos tais recifes artificiais na Ilha PhiPhi Ley... 3 mergulhos consecutivos... sempre a bombar, a medir os transplantes de coral Acropora spp. e a tirar fotos.
Foi interessante.

Finalmente realizei um daqueles sonhos :) …

Hoje mergulhei em apneia com os ditos tubarões de recife de pontas negras.
Foi engraçado. Pensava que ia estar ansioso e algo nervoso, mas inexplicavelmente antes do mergulho estava totalmente sereno.
Devo ter visto cerca de uns 15 amigos desses, um deles com o meu tamanho.

Dizem que estes tubarões podem ser agressivos para o homem, mas pelo que eu vi, eles são bem tímidos e se alguma coisa é agressiva neste meio, é o Homem.

Haviam de ter visto a quantidade de baleias humanas (i.e. espécie grande e obesa com colete salva-vidas para controlo de flutuabilidade) que vimos a afugentar os coitados e a destruir todos os corais por onde passavam.

De qualquer maneira, foi uma experiência maravilhosa, observar aqueles seres maravilhosos em pleno habitat natural. É certo que a vou repetir muito mais vezes e talvez até tentar tirar dados para um possível estudo, não sei.

Já começo a sentir-me em casa. A vista da minha varanda é realmente brutal :)

Bem… vou comer um arrozinho frito com camarão e legumes e um belo batido de manga.

Fiquem bem e curtam sempre.

PS: Amanhã vou mergulhar nos recifes artificiais na Ilha PhiPhi Ley onde filmaram o filme "The beach" :)

Tou sem muito tempo, mas é só pra dizer que as coisas vão melhores por aki, depois de uma bela intoxicação alimentar e um jeito estúpido nas costas que quase não conseguia andar (tive 2 dias de cama) e acabando por descobrir o belo "hospital" da ilha.

Amanhã vou conhecer os meus novos amigos.... os tubarões de pontas negras do recife.

Surgiu até uma ideia de fazer um estudo comportamental como alternativa á tese que pensava.
O problema é que terei que passar algum tempo dentro de água com eles... não sei se me agrada muito :)

Logo vejo o que dá...

Pois...

Hoje foi um dia melhor... em termos de curtição.

Fui mergulhar sozinho ao longo do lado direito da praia. Passei pela parede de calcário de 100 m, onde estava pessoal a escalar, e meti-me dentro de água, corri o coral até uma praia onde também se escala e que tem macacos selvagens :).... lindo.... uma macaca com uma cria ao colo.... e andavam a cravar os turistas por bananas e pistachios.. :)

O mergulho foi fixe.... bué de corais e algumas espécies que nunca tinha visto, como um peixe leão lindissimo, azul e branco.

A cena da tese encontra-se em stand-by, vou esperar para falar com o gajo na segunda e ver o que posso fazer.

Estafadissimo, depois de finalmente encontrar um quarto...

Moi... no mega quarto :) ... nem imaginam a curte q é.... uma palmeira a atravessá-lo, retrete sempre entupida, calor tipo forno...

uma bonita imagem, não? ... mas á volta da fotografia existe mais.... barcos cheios de turistas e a praia totalmente assediada... é assim :)

“Paraíso Infernal”

Depois de um atraso de mais de 3h no voo da Asian Airlines para Phuket, cheguei ao aeroporto por volta das 2h da manhã. Resumindo, dormi no chão do aeroporto, no meio de baratas e possivelmente ratos (mas não os vi).
Depois conheci duas checas que me fizeram companhia até ao porto onde iria apanhar o ferry para a Ilha. Apesar da beleza do percurso, fui a dormir quase sempre, estava derreado.
Eram prai uns 30 ferries, cada um mais apeado que o outro em turistas. A primeira paragem após 2h, foi a ilha Phi Phi Ley, a ilha onde foi gravado o filme a praia. Posso vos dizer… decepção total, aconteceu o que eu temia, o paraíso que estas ilhas poderiam ser, deixaram de o ser com a massificação turística (500 embarcações num espaço de 500 m2 e a areia da praia quase que nem se via).
Depois foi chegar á ilha onde supostamente vou viver… mais 500 mil turistas e tantas agências e operadores que fornecem tudo e mais alguma coisa.
Fui de encontro ao meu contacto no Divecenter, foi interessante, mas percebi logo que aquilo era a total anarquia e que eles estão muito mais interessados em fazer negócio do que em qualquer pesquisa científica. Adiei a conversa para mais tarde, porque o meu suposto orientador tinha que ir a Phuket durante o fim de semana.
E eu parti para aquilo que era crucial naquele momento, encontrar casa para ficar num local limitadíssimo em termos de disponibilidade e com preços a rondar o aluguer de uma casa no Mónaco.
Desesperei totalmente… ninguém queria alugar casas por um mês ou mais, porque ao dia rende muito mais e os turistas pagam de qualquer maneira. Corri quase a ilha toda e nada. O mínimo era o equivalente a 400 €.
Resumidamente, estava a destilar (sim a destilar mesmo, nem imaginam o calor infernal), cheio de sono e a stressar totalmente, porque estava a ver que ia ser insustentável ficar na ilha desta forma e de qualquer maneira tinha que arranjar um quarto para pelo menos uma noite.
Depois daquilo que vi do Divecenter e disto, até já estava a encarar a possibilidade de ficar aqui um ou dois dias e fazer-me á vida, cagar para o mestrado que tinha previsto.
Acreditem que agora me assola constantemente o pensamento de continuar aqui em viagem mais um mês e meio e regressar a Portugal para fazer outra tese. Estou um pouco decepcionado com aquilo que estou a ver
Enfim, lamentações á parte, tive a maior sorte e lá consegui um quarto, sem ar condicionado (devem estar a pensar, que mariquinhas que o Bruno se está a tornar…), pela módica quantia de 10000 bahts ou seja 200€. Voltou a ideia de puder dar uma oportunidade ao projecto…
O quarto é maravilhoso, aberto para o exterior, com uma palmeira a atravessá-lo ao meio, com quantidade suficiente de mosquinhas e mosquitos para alimentar 100 camaleões. Pelo menos a vista é fixe.

Cheguei a Bangkok !!!

Não tenho palavras. Foi um dia extenuante, cheio de experiências novas. A sensação de estar a cumprir um antigo sonho era presente e estava constantemente a ser assolado por descargas de alegria.

Pensava eu que depois de Nova Iorque, Marraquexe ou Amesterdão, muito dificilmente iria ficar pasmado com alguma outra cidade. Estava redondamente enganado. Esta cidade transpira de loucura a toda a hora e a todo o gás.

Tudo é diferente do habitual para um Português que nunca andou neste lado do Mundo. A maioria das pessoas são diferentes fisiologicamente, a cultura, a linguagem (e não pensem que a maioria fala inglês porque não falam), a religião, a gastronomia, a circulação do tráfico, a arquitectura, etc. Mas isto já vocês sabem dos livros. Mas uma coisa são os livros, outra viver na prática, sentir os cheiros, tocar, realmente ver e viver as coisas. Indescritível !!!

O calor é abrasador e ando sempre suado.
Na rua experimentei de tudo. Os guias escritos dizem para o viajante ocidental evitar comer comida de rua, etc, etc. Pois bem, eu evitei comer comida de restaurante para estrangeiro. Comi coisas que nem sabia o que eram. Jantei camarão com arroz frito e legumes pela módica quantia de 40 Baht, ou seja menos de 1 €.

Corri meia cidade a pé, apesar da enorme quantidade de transportes públicos, desde tuk-tuks (triciclos motorizados que nos levam a qualquer lugar) a Skytrains. Desta forma, passei por zonas que decerto não são aconselhadas a turista. Vi ratos, baratas, prostitutas, mercados, edifícios que são autênticos shoppings de material electrónico, locais de culto a Buda, gente a dormir na rua por todo o lado (ainda pensei duas vezes se precisava de uma pousada), etc.
As pessoas são demais, muita simplicidade, muita simpatia, muito tudo, mas como em todo o lado, existe de tudo mesmo.
Para aqueles que vêm para esta cidade por turismo sexual, percebe-se porquê. Esta cidade é um santuário do sexo e a quantidade de fêmeas da espécie transborda por todo o lado, basta chegar ao aeroporto.

Depois de uma viagem de quase 20 horas com escala no Dubai e quase sem dormir, isto tudo sente-se muito mais. Conheci duas polacas no autocarro para a cidade que tinham um guia e juntei-me a elas em busca de um sitio para dormir. Encontramos uma pousada perto do centro e fiquei num dormitório de 6 lugares, não só pelo preço, mas porque são os melhores lugares para conhecer outros viajantes e partilhar experiências.

Pois é pessoal...

Já tou de viagem, tive 2 dias em Inglaterra numa terreola da pasmaceira chamada Silsoe, onde a Ana está a fazer o mestrado e agora encontro-me no Dubai a fazer escala do voô para Bangkok.

Voar nos Emirates Airlines foi a moka, o avião era todo pipi, com ecrãs em cada cadeira, com jogos, filmes e altas comidas durante todo o voô.... Brutal :) .... alto comodismo para um cheapflight.

Por agora ainda não posso por fotos nenhumas, pq ainda não tenho câmera.... vou comprar uma em Bangkok.

Depois dou notícias.

Vamos ver no q isto resulta...

Assim ainda têm q apanhar comigo, mesmo a milhares de Km de distância :)

Caso eu deixe de postar durante mais de um mês, "chamem a polícia"... devo-me ter perdido por uma floresta qualquer ou então fui comido por um tubarão :)

PS: ... e não! não vou só passear e curtir !!!! Vou fazer a parte prática da minha tese de mestrado em Monitorização dos recifes de coral numa ilhota que se chama Phi Phi :) ... Vá de mergulhar... tá a andar... e é já a partir de 20 de Novembro
